Admittance and Services
Visiting hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 17:00. The $41 MXP fee includes admission to the museum and the archaeological zone. Children under 13, students, teachers and senior citizens with a valid ID, do not pay. Free entrance: Sunday. There is a fee if you are willing to shoot with a video camera. Permanent exhibition.
Synopsis
This museum, inaugurated in 1984, is housed in a former military monument, built in the sixteenth century to protect Veracruz city from pirates and other sea attacks. In this historic site was defeated the last Spaniard battalion that kept the fort taken. Mexico was also military defended against French and American armies in this fort. It functioned as a jail during the 19th century. The collection includes an armory from 16th to 19th centuries.
